Grand Case

A sweeping curve of the beach at Grand Case near the northern tip of St Martin shelters a small fishing village that is famous not only for its wonderful dining establishments, but also for its distinct architecture. Elaborate carvings and fretwork, in what is known as gingerbread style, adorn the fronts of the small wooden houses painted in a variety of pastel colors, and the effect is truly charming.

This lovely seaside haven proclaims to be home to some of the best restaurants in the Caribbean. Located on the French side of the Island, in between Orient Beach and Marigot, Grand Case is easy to get to by boat or by land.

The main strip in the town is lined with shops selling a huge assortment of souvenirs, fashion clothing and local artisan art. There is a wonderful local gallery which showcases island artists. Near the police station you will find a fantastic bakery selling fresh baguettes and croissants, and they are open at 6 am!

Grand Case offers a good harbor, where you can lay anchor beside other sea travellers. There is a long dinky dock - and you can get supplies close by.
